Branston Hall Wedding Photography – Chris & Lindsey

Chris and Lindsey booked me over a year ago when they were looking for a Branston Hall Wedding Photographer to shoot their wedding.  I was looking forward to taking their wedding photographs very much especially when Chris dropped into the conversation that all the guys would be wearing kilts!  I go a little bit weak at the knees I have to say whenever there are uniforms or kilts involved in a wedding – but who doesn’t!

The ceremony was to be held in the tiny St Hybalds Church in Ashby de la Launde in Lincolnshire. Unfortunately the Friday they chose was also possibly the wettest day I have ever seen – the heavens absolutely opened and certainly there was concern about everyone getting to the wedding as a lot of the local area was flooded.  Time to get the Landrover out!  It is always a shame when this happens – although as an experienced wedding photographer I can still get the photography they want , the guests dont get to enjoy wondering around outside – which for a wedding in July you would expect to be able to do.  Nevertheless the wet weather plan swung into action – group photo inside the church (everyone stays in the pews and I stand on something high!) brollies at the ready and a wonderful waterproof camera meant we still got some lovely photographs.

(I’ve just started doing all my wedding photography with the brand new Olympus OMD -E5 micro 4/3 camera – it is miniscule and therefore discrete, and absolutely wonderful in  the conditions we had at this wedding – low light, wet – it coped brilliantly – bye bye Canon! It is a staggering peice of kit and I’m am very impressed)

Inside Branston Hall was particularly busy (everyone had come in to escape the rain) so we were limited as to where we could go to take the group photos but thankfully Branston Hall has a lovely covered canopy area at the reception entrance so we were able to finish off the formal photos there.  We stayed until the speeches had finished and then prepared to leave – until I spotted something strange in the sky – the sun!!  A quick word with Chris and Lindsey and we quickly rushed outside to take advantage of the break in the weather to get the shots they had originally said they wanted – Branston Hall in the background and in the beautiful pagoda. The great British weather – we love it really!  A big thank you to Chris and Lindsey for choosing me to be their Lincolnshire wedding photographer, and also to Dan at Branston Hall who effortlessly co-ordinates the running of the day so everyone gets the wedding they want.

Should you be considering a Branston Hall wedding,  please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your wedding photography requirements.

  • Leeds Wedding Photographer - Martin Hillary - I used to think it was a shame when the weather was bad at a wedding I was photographing. Thing is, it’s the UK and rather than worry about it just embrace it. Looks like you’ve really captured the spirit of the day. Love the veil shot too!August 28, 2012 – 8:28 PMReplyCancel
